When family can't always be there...

I can be.

Because life gets busy. Love doesn’t. You can’t be everywhere. Work. Children. Distance. Life. It doesn’t mean you love them any less. It simply means you need someone you can trust to pop in, put the kettle on and spend time with them as if they were family.

A friendly, familiar presence

Hi, I’m Sarah, I started A Familiar Face because I believe nobody should grow older feeling lonely

I'm here for a cup of tea and a chat, a helping hand around the house, or company on a walk or an appointment. There’s also room for some fun… maybe a theatre trip, an excursion to the local garden centre or an art class to get creative.

This is non-personal-care support, the kind of everyday help a good neighbour or a caring family member might offer when they have the time.

Here's what I offer:

Companionship, tea, chat and good company
Light household help
Laundry
Changing bedding
Errands
Meal preparation
Local outings
Appointment support
Family update messages & photos
PEACE OF MIND

Gentle home help and companionship for older adults

We all want the people we love to feel safe, cared for and not alone. A Familiar Face offers warm, practical support for older adults who could use a little extra help, company, reassurance or maybe a good gossip over a custard cream! It’s a service for families who want peace of mind knowing someone trustworthy is nearby.

Visiting with heart

About Sarah

I started A Familiar Face because I wanted to do something that truly mattered.

I've always loved spending time with older people; they've lived so much, and there's a real richness in the stories, wisdom and experience they carry if you just take the time to sit and listen. For me, it’s a privilege, not a chore.

Loneliness is a real and growing problem, and there's good evidence that staying connected, having company, and taking part in things like conversation, hobbies, or a bit of gentle activity genuinely support our wellbeing as we get older. A cup of tea and a proper chat can do more good than people realise.

That's what A Familiar Face is really about, making sure the people I visit feel seen, valued and a little less alone. When you trust me with someone you love, I don't take that lightly. I treat every visit the way I'd want someone to treat my own family.
